Basset Carved Alabaster Semi Flush Ceiling Light for Low Ceilings and Entry Halls

The Basset takes a carved bowl of natural alabaster and sets it in a brass frame with a filigree crown rim, a moulded pattern on the canopy and a turned finial beneath. Alabaster is not glass: the stone is dense enough to hold its own veining and translucency, so the light arrives warm and uneven in the way a shade never quite manages.

It hangs semi flush, which is the point. Rooms with eight foot ceilings, upstairs landings and entry halls rarely have the clearance for a pendant, and a bare flush disc rarely has the presence. This sits between the two at 13 inches deep, close enough to the ceiling to stay out of the way and shaped enough to anchor the room below.

Four E26 or E27 bulbs sit inside the bowl, so the output can be tuned by bulb choice, whether that means a warm Edison filament or a cooler LED. Brass and alabaster throughout, wired for indoor use, and controlled from a standard wall switch. Certified for North America, Europe and Australia.
